SUMMARY:Malik Gaines “Hard Love”
DESCRIPTION:\nMalik Gaines sings and plays popular music and theater songs. This seasonal set reflects themes of love and affection under bad conditions.\n\nMalik Gaines is an artist, musician and writer. His collaborative performance-art group My Barbarian has performed internationally and has been the subject of many exhibitions and publications. His work for opera include “Star Choir” (2023) with Alexandro Segade. He writes about art and the social world and is a professor of Visual Arts at UC San Diego, where he serves as PhD director. Over the last decade, using the gay piano bar as inspiration, he’s done solo music performances in venues in New York and LA (and in notable pandemic-era social media concerts) to express collective feelings about the moment. This will be the San Diego debut.\n\n\nSee more ( https://vimeo.com/1165049891?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci )\n
