Queer Film Society: Marlon Riggs’ Tongues Untied

Join us in our Clark Cabaret for our series where we explore and indulge in Queer films that shaped our history. In honor of Black History Month we will be hosting a movie screening of Marlon Riggs’ Tongues Untied. Marlon Riggs’ 1989 essay film TONGUES UNTIED gives voice to communities of black gay men, presenting their cultures and perspectives on the world as they confront racism, homophobia, and marginalization. It broke new artistic ground by mixing poetry, music, performance and Riggs’ autobiographical revelations. Join us in the Clark Cabaret and Bar, February 29, starting at 7 pm! We will have $2 off drink specials and the event will feature an introduction to the film by Dr. Godfried Asante, SDSU and a post-screening discussion of the film’s themes and ideas.
