Diversionary Volunteers Honored
Last month, we had the great pleasure of nominating two volunteers for the San Diego Performing Arts League’s Annual Star Awards. The STAR Awards honor local volunteers who donate their time to cultural institutions in San Diego.
Seth Jones and Todd Nelms were both nominated by Diversionary.
In October 2013 and at the beginning of a period of transition for Diversionary Theatre, then Board Trustee Todd Nelms volunteered to step in and assist with day-to-day operations and the task of re-organization.
Over the following twelve months, Todd worked tirelessly to inspire staff, refine operations, evaluate procedures, find areas for improvement and most importantly keep theatre alive at 4545 Park Blvd.
For his devotion, energy and inspiration, we enthusiastically nominated Todd Nelms for the 22nd Annual Star Awards!
Among the very first to join our “Guest Stars” program, Seth Jones has helped with everything from assisting with check-in at show time, to cleaning carpets, to painting sets, to hauling trash and everything in between, all with a willing spirit and a great sense of humor.
Additionally, Seth travels up to two hours on public transportation each way to volunteer, often leaving the theatre at 10:00 pm to begin the journey home.
For his hard work, dedication, humor and passion, as well as his friendship, we were pleased to nominate Seth Jones as an Emerging Star!
